The Amish are not cute

Why do some people think that the Amish look so quaint?  Sure, they look like they are extras from a Little House on the Prairie remake but if you think about their situation it should bring the sobering truth; these people are oppressed by religion.  They must all dress alike in dull outdated clothes, wear the same beard, hat, and silly pageboy haircut, bonnet, etc...  I live near many of their settlements and they seriously disturb me.  Not as people, but as propagators of oppression.
Many have told me they think the children are cute in those antique get-ups.  Think about it.  How would you feel if your child was raised by one of those families?  What do you think your child would learn in one of their schools?  What lies do they tell their kids?  Your child would never see the internet, never visit historical places, have no understanding of science, or have a chance at a normal life.
And what if your child was a girl?  Her chances would be even slimmer than a boys.  Her only value would be having children and keeping an orderly home.  She could never aspire to be anything more.  It would not be allowed.
Would you stand for your child being raised by an Amish family or would you think that they were being abused by the oppression of the Amish beliefs?  You would want your child to have every opportunity in life.  To sit back and think Amish children are cute is the same as saying, "As long as it's not my child it is ok for this group of people to oppress their next generation.  They look cute."
We need to stop religions from oppressing people.  You may be thinking, "Just the Amish that do this", but you're wrong.  Many children all over the world are taught lies in order to maintain a religious point of view.  Some Muslin countries are not told that advanced countries have landed on and are exploring other planets.  They don't know about DNA, evolution, or even medical advancements.  All in the name of maintaining an Iron Age belief system.  Many Christians teach their children these same things.  All in the name of mysticism.
Some feel comfortable in our modern countries thinking, "I think of myself as a Christian don't believe like those crazy bible thumpers.  I'm spiritual.  I believe in a creator but have never read the bible."  I hate to tell those people but they're the problem.  Because they aren't really Christian, by calling themselves one they support the Christian beliefs.  They add to the religions numbers.  They confirm and help spread Christian oppression spreading among the masses.  By calling themselves Christian they encourage politicians to make laws pertaining to religious beliefs instead of what would be best for the masses.
Right now in America many people and schools are teaching children that the Earth is 10,000 years old, that evolution is a lie, and that many sciences are solely out to destroy religion.  But in reality science doesn't care about religion or politics.  It cares about the truth.  But religious leaders want their followers to believe that science is evil.  They want to protect their religion.  They don't care that by teaching lies as truth they are harming the future of these children.  How many potential scientists are not realizing their dreams because they are going to a school, then possibly a college that teach Christian based science.
Do you think NASA would hire a young adult that graduated from Liberty University (founded by Jerry Falwell)?  Ok, that wasn't fair.  The only science they have a degree in is biology and I really wonder what they do when they run into genetics.  But I think it makes my point.  Just like with the Amish, society has moved on.  Will this come true with the christians?  Will society move on and leave them living in a world held together only by their beliefs?  Will they become the tourist attraction that future people visit and think how quaint they look in their outdated cloths, and old fashioned ways?
